ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT Duration of Programme

All applicants are required to attain any of the following Mode of Study Duration PhD Master’s
before they are accepted for admission into the Minimum 3 years 2 years
programme: Full Time
Maximum 6 years 4 years
• A minimum score of 550 for a paper-based total or Minimum 4 years 3 years
213 for a computer-based total or 80 for an Internet Part Time Maximum 8 years 5 years
based total for the Test of English as a Foreign
Language (TOEFL)*; or
• A minimum score of Band 6.0 in the International List of Courses
English Language Testing System (IELTS)*; or 1. Philosophy of Knowledge and Wisdom
• A minimum required proficiency in UIM
Postgraduate English Proficiency Test; or 2. Advanced Research Methodology
• A recognised first degree undertaken in English 3. Seminar in (Management and Finance/ Laws /
medium; or Heritage)
• Successful completion of Intensive English 4. Qualitative and Quantitative Analysis (For PhD
Programme (IEP) at Advanced level conducted by student only)
the Centre for English Language (CEL).
• Applicants without the above English Language
Requirement are required to take UIM English
Proficiency Test - UEPT during the first semester and
pass with a minimum score of 60 percent.
*Note: the validity period for IELTS and TOEFL is two years from the
date awarded;
