Funds for Establishment of Kolej Islam Malaysia

A Committee was formed to collect funds for the establishment of Kolej Islam Malaysia (Islamic College of Malaya) or KIM.
1949 (1 December)

Letters Script in Gold

Letters script in gold were brought before the Sultan of Pahang, DYMM Sultan Sir Abu Bakar by the delegation of KIM.

KIM Delegation Received

Sultan of Selangor, DYMM Sultan Sir Hisamuddin Alam Shah received KIM delegation in Selangor Palace, Kuala Lumpur.
1950 (21 – 22 February)

Scholars' conference for the Establishment of The Islamic College of Malaya

Scholars' conference organized by UMNO in Johor Bharu voted unanimously to seek the consent of the Council of Malay Rulers for the establishment of the Islamic College of Malaya.

KIM Fund Was Established

KIM fund was established.Hunger strike was initiated by members of the committee to collect more funds. Proceeds went to KIM Waqaf Fund.

Sultan of Selangor Waqf Jameah Palace

The Sultan of Selangor waqf Jameah Palace in Kampung Jawa, Klang to establish KIM campus.
1955 (8 April)

KIM Became The First Project of The Malay Rulers Collectively

KIM campus officially launched by the Sultan of Selangor. Present were several representatives of the Malay Rulers, Speaker of the State and the British High Commissioner. KIM became the first project of the Malay Rulers collectively. The first batch of 55 students were from Peninsular Malaya, Singapore, Brunei and Thailand. Five female students were enrolled.
1961

Grand Sheikh of Al-Azhar and President of Azhar University Visit

Grand Sheikh of Al-Azhar and President of Azhar University visited the Malay Peninsula. They recognised degrees issued by KIM as equal to the first degree of Azhar University.
1966

KIM Moved to a New Campus

KIM moved to a new campus in Jalan Universiti, Petaling Jaya. Old campus became a boarding high school and assumed the name Kolej Islam Klang (Klang Islamic College).

KIM Property

Lot 2940 Jalan Universiti, Petaling Jaya (30 acres) registered as property of KIM.

Al-Malik Faisal Hall Completed

Al-Malik Faisal Hall completed at a cost of RM258, 277.06 to KIM in Petaling Jaya Campus.

Centre for Islamic Higher Education in Malaysia

Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman, the first Prime Minister of Malaysia expressed in parliment the government's intention to make Islamic College of Malaya as a Centre for Islamic Higher Education in Malaysia.

DYMM His Majesty Al-Malik Faisal bin Abd Al-Aziz Al-Sa'ud made an official visit to the Al-Malik Faisal Hall, located at KIM Campus in Petaling Jaya.

KIM waqf (endowment) assets were placed under Lembaga Bersekutu Pemegang Amanah Pengajian Tinggi Malaysia (Associated Board of Trustees of Advanced Islamic Studies of Malaysia.)

Association of Ex. Students of Islamic College (PBSKIM) Annual General Meeting

Annual General Meeting of the Association of Ex. Students of Islamic College (PBSKIM) resolved to revive Islamic College of Malaya.

Lembaga Bersekutu Pemegang Amanah Pengajian Tinggi Islam Malaysia to be known as Lembaga Amanah Kolej Islam Malaya (LAKIM).

Tan Sri. Dr. Mohd. Yusof Noor was elected as Chairman

At PBSKIM general meeting Tan Sri. Dr. Mohd. Yusof Noor was elected as Chairman of the Establishment Committee of Kolej Islam Malaya.
2010 (12 October)

KIM with the name Royal Islamic University of Malaysia.

Prime Minister YAB Dato 'Seri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak and members of MKI agreed to revived KIM with the name Royal Islamic University of Malaysia. MKI decision would be forwarded to the Conference of Malay Rulers.

The Malay Rulers consented

The Malay Rulers consented the appointment of members of Islamic College Council to be the Council Members of the Islamic University Malaysia.

Majlis Universiti Islam Malaysia (MUIM) started its operation

Majlis Universiti Islam Malaysia (MUIM) started its operation in the Academic Building of Institut Latihan Islam Malaysia in Sungai Merab Bangi, Selangor.
2013 (22 February)

Establishment of the university at the Ministry of Higher Education.

A delegation headed by YBhg Tan Sri Dr. Mohd Yusof Noor, the chairman of MUIM, accompanied by YBhg Datuk Wira Dr. Ismail Ibrahim, YBhg Dato. Abdul Monir Yaacob, YBhg Dato Abd Manaf Hj Ahmad, YBhg Dato Othman Desa, Hj Mohd Puzi Dahman and other MUIM officers presented a paper on the establishment of the university at the Ministry of Higher Education.

The Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia recognised UIM as a University.

Ministry of Higher Education officially approved the establishment of the Islamic University of Malaysia (UIM).

MUIM moved to MKN Embassy TechZone

MUIM moved to MKN Embassy TechZone Block I Cyberjaya which would serve as its temporary campus.

MUIM was registered by the Ministry of Education

MUIM was registered by the Ministry of Education as a private university known as Islamic University of Malaysia(UIM).
2014 (24 July)

Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister attended UIM registration and acceptance ceremony.

Tan Sri Mahyuddin Yassin, The Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister attended UIM registration and acceptance ceremony held at Putrajaya. UIM was represented by its president, Tan Sri. Dr. Mohd. Yusof Noor.
