PROFESSOR ULUNG DATUK DR. SHAMSUL AMRI BAHARUDDIN

SHAMSUL A.B. is one of the only three Distinguished Professors in Malaysia to date. Currently, he is Deputy Chair, National Council of Professors, Malaysia and the Pro-Tem Chair, Academy of Social Science & Humanities, Malaysia. Trained as a social anthropologist in Malaysia and Australia, he was a post-doctoral fellow at the CNRS, Paris, in 1986.

Since 1973, he has researched, lectured and published extensively on the theme ‘economic development, culture and politics,’ with an empirical focus on maritime Southeast Asia & Malaysia. He is often consulted by public and private sector interests on matters relating to risk study/issues.

He also comments on local and international mass media, on history and current affairs of the region, such as in the Al-Jazeera, National Geographic Channel, Channel News Asia, BBC London, ABC Melbourne, and Wall Street Journal. For successfully promoting Asian Studies globally, in 2008, he was awarded the prestigious Academic Prize, Fukuoka Cultural Award, Japan, the only second Malaysian to have received the award since its inception in 1990.

 

PROFESOR DATO’ DR TEO KOK SEONG

TEO KOK SEONG, who received his PhD in linguistics from The University of California at Berkeley, is a principal fellow and professor of Malay sociolinguistics at Institute of Ethnic Studies (KITA), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. His works, besides focusing on sociological issues of Malaysia’s national and official language, also include national integration and inter-communication endeavours in Malaysia’s multi-ethnic society.

 

PROFESSOR DR AMIR MAHMOOD

Professor Amir Mahmood is the Pro Vice – Chancellor University of Newcastle(Singapore) . He holds an M.A. and Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Manitoba, Canada. Since joining the University of Newcastle, Australia, in 1992, he has significantly contributed to the areas of research, teaching, internationalisation and academic leadership. During this period, Professor Mahmood has also held a number of senior leadership positions with the University. A recipient of the Australian Governments Endeavour Malaysia Research Fellowship, Professor Mahmood has a strong research track record in the field of economics, business and management

 

EMERITUS PROFESSOR DATUK DR HJ SHAD SALEEM FARUQI

Shad Saleem Faruqi is a Senior Professor of Law and Legal Advisor at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). From 2007-2012 he was a Visiting Professor and Honorary Legal Advisor to Universiti Sains Malaysia.

He is the author of eight books. He has contributed over 435 articles to legal periodicals, anthologies and newspapers and has presented over 325 seminar papers in 15 countries.
He writes a fortnightly column "Reflecting on the Law" for the Star. Prof Shad has served as a consultant to many countries. At home he has drafted six pieces of educational legislation

 

PROFESSOR DR. COLIN POWER

Professor Dr Colin Power has had a long and distinguished academic career in Australia, the USA, UK and Sweden. From 1989 to 2000, he served as Deputy Director-General and Assistant Director-General for Education in UNESCO.

As such, he played a central role in its major initiatives, such as Education for All and the International Commission on Education for 21st Century. In 2002, he was awarded an Order of Australia and the University of Queensland Alumnus of the Year.

Currently he is Chair of the Commonwealth Consortium for Education and the Eidos Institute. He is author or co-author of 13 books and over 250 published works.

 

PROFESSOR MICHAEL J. MORLEY

Prof Michael J. Morley is Professor of Management at the Kemmy Business School, University of Limerick, Ireland, where he has variously served as Head of the Department of Management & Marketing, Head of the Department of Personnel & Employment Relations and Assistant Dean of Research.  

He has held Visiting Appointments at several universities, including, most recently at IESE Business School, Barcelona where he spent academic year 2010/11.  

In conjunction with his collaborators, he has published some 20 books, 24 guest-edited journal special issues and over 100 journal articles and book chapters. Among his recent edited volumes are: Manager-Subordinate Trust: A Global Perspective (with P. Cardona) (Routledge, 2013).

 

SULTAN T. ABU-ORABI ALADWAN

Sultan T. Abu-Orabi Aladwan is a Secretary General, Association of Arab Universities (AARU), Amman, Jordan. He was also the former President of Yarmouk University in Jordan and was previously the president of Irbid National University from 2002 - 2005. In addition, Professor Sultan acts as both the President of the Jordanian Chemical Society and the Secretary General of the Arab Union of Chemists. Previously, he was a Visiting Professor at Bahrain University and the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Saudi Arabia. With a Ph.D in Organic Chemistry from the University of Michigan in the USA, Professor Orabi remains an active researcher and scholar who throughout the years have published over 55 journal research papers, 5 book reviews and participated in over 90 conferences at the national, regional and international levels. He is the editor in chief several journals and has served on many International Advisory Boards, and acted as Chair or member of the Scientific and Organization Committees.

 

DATO' BADLISYAH ABDUL GHANI

Dato' Badlisyah Abdul Ghani is the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Lembaga Tabung Haji.

He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Leeds, United Kingdom. He is an alumnus of the ICLIF Leadership and Governance Program and the Co-Founder of the UKEC.

He has been recognised by various top international publications as ‘Islamic Banker of the Year’ and ‘Top 20 Pioneer in Islamic finance’. He has won many awards through the years including the ‘Outstanding Contribution to the Development of Islamic Finance’ award for his role in the global Islamic financial markets.
